Ken and the team at ASM have been instrumental in developing soil criteria for dry land, irrigation, horticulture, viticulture and channel seepage investigations for the past 30 years. The development of the use in remote sensing and the introduction of new and innovative methods of soil collection and interpretation has been a catalyst for the growth and success in ASM's expanding business throughout Australia.

In 1993 Ken Bates of Deniliquin saw a real need for a soil mapping business to be established in the Southern Riverina, when the rice industry was deregulated and the cost of cropping inputs began to rise. At the time the need to assist farmers in the specialised field of soil mapping was never more evident.
For over 30 years Ken has worked with many farmers, irrigation companies, councils and government bodies to develop his business into an all round system.
Ken prides himself on his knowledge and experience in soil testing and mapping, his honest and open communication approach - working with farmers to meet their needs, and his friendly, longstanding client relationships.
